Not another personal brand toolkit
Instead: A toolkit to help you build a genuine, distinctive work identity as a freelance consultant
I don’t like the idea of building a personal brand.
Here, I said it.
Why?
Because you and I are not products to be marketed.
We’re individuals with unique values, insights, and lived experiences. Building a personal brand often requires us to fit into marketable moulds, which can feel like reducing ourselves to a packaged image. And that can make it feel inauthentic because it implies crafting an image to appeal to an audience, sometimes at the expense of personal integrity and individuality.
I’ve not found a better term.
In this workbook, I argue that we should instead focus on building a genuine work identity by aligning our work with what uniquely defines us.
What unique contribution do I want to make in this world?
Which of my unique strengths and skills can create a tangible impact for my clients?
How can I run a freelance business that aligns with my values?
Who is it for?
This short workbook is designed for social impact and international development freelance consultants.
Who do you get?
In the workbook, you’ll find exercises to help clarify your motivation, map your skills to tangible client outcomes, clarify your work preferences and communicate your value.
So you can shape your freelance business in a way that feels true to you.
Enjoy the process of exploring what makes you stand out!
